FAQ
Short Term Accommodation (STA) — Common Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often about this service.
Short Term Accommodation is also commonly called respite care. It provides a temporary stay — typically up to 14 days at a time — for NDIS participants, giving both participants and their carers a break while ensuring quality support continues.
The NDIS typically funds up to 28 days of STA per year, though this varies by individual plan. Your exact entitlement depends on your assessed needs and what is included in your NDIS plan. Your Support Coordinator can help confirm your STA allocation.
Days are structured around participant wellbeing and enjoyment. This typically includes nutritious meals, social activities, outings where appropriate, therapeutic support, and relaxation time. We tailor the program to each individual's interests and support needs.
Yes. Family members and carers are welcome to visit. We encourage family involvement and will work with you to arrange suitable visiting arrangements that respect both the participant's experience and other residents.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that funds supports and services for people with a permanent and significant disability. Once approved, you receive an individual plan with funding allocated across three budget categories: Core, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports. You choose how and with whom you use your funding.
To be eligible you generally need to be under 65 years of age, an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder, and have a permanent disability that significantly affects your daily life. You can check eligibility at ndis.gov.au or call us — our team will help you understand your options at no cost.
No. Our initial consultation is completely free and no-obligation. We'll discuss your goals, explain our services, and help you understand how your NDIS funding can be used — before you commit to anything.
