FAQ
Community Access — Common Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often about this service.
Your support worker accompanies you throughout the activity, providing assistance as needed. The level of active support depends on your individual plan and preferences — some participants want close assistance, others prefer the worker to be present but step back.
Absolutely. Building meaningful social connections and reducing isolation is one of the core goals of community access support. We can introduce you to social groups, community programs, and activities where you can meet like-minded people.
We support you to access a wide range of community activities — medical appointments, cultural events, social groups, sport and recreation, shopping, libraries, education, and more. The activities are driven by your personal goals and interests.
Transport can be included depending on your NDIS plan. If you have Transport funding, we can arrange travel to and from activities. Alternatively, our separate Transport Assistance service can be funded from your Core Supports budget.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that funds supports and services for people with a permanent and significant disability. Once approved, you receive an individual plan with funding allocated across three budget categories: Core, Capacity Building, and Capital Supports. You choose how and with whom you use your funding.
To be eligible you generally need to be under 65 years of age, an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder, and have a permanent disability that significantly affects your daily life. You can check eligibility at ndis.gov.au or call us — our team will help you understand your options at no cost.
No. Our initial consultation is completely free and no-obligation. We'll discuss your goals, explain our services, and help you understand how your NDIS funding can be used — before you commit to anything.
